The BRBA delivers the following range of services to its members:
Education and Information
A key activity for the BRBA is to educate members and the broader business community
on recycled content products and materials - why they should buy, what they can buy,
and where they can buy.
In addition to information on the value, quality and availability of RCPs, we provide hands
on training and implementation, and inform on market trends and developments, stakeholder and
public policy action and initiatives, and tools and resources which will assist member efforts.
Research and Development
The BRBA undertakes research activities at a variety of levels to examine the state of
"buying recycled" in Australia and what can be done to further improve it.
Market based and member research forms an important part of our "knowledge bank", and directs
our priorities in developing the implementation tools & materials and member activities which
will best assist members to progress their "buy recycled" efforts.
Facilitation
The BRBA seeks to work with all Australian recycling stakeholders to foster "buying recycled".
This includes cooperating with Australian Governments at all levels to implement appropriate
public policy frameworks for "buying recycled"; and seeking to "match" and "marry" BRBA members
to achieve business benefits. Examples of such matching includes:
- Letting buyers know about RCP opportunities available from other members
- Waste material from one member to become RCP feedstock for another member
Networking & Partnering
Networking and partnering with other members as well as key business, government and
environmental stakeholders is a key aspect and focus of BRBA membership. The BRBA provides a
networking and partnering platform which offers members the opportunity to:
- Initiate or strengthen business relationships which can deliver business
- Secure supply chain benefits and efficiencies
- Develop new markets
- Strengthen company branding and market profile
- Join with other members to address common issues or opportunities
- Learn from the knowledge and experience of other member companies
- Gain access to and raise profile with Government and environmental stakeholders
Representation
BRBA will continually represent the interests and credentials of members. This will involve
creating opportunities for members to showcase their "buy recycled" action and achievements;
facilitating member Cooperative Projects; and providing opportunities for members to strengthen
their stakeholder relationships.
Marketing Communications
The BRBA provides a range of marketing communications to promote the "buy recycled" concept,
through the website, Media Releases, Newsletters, Sponsorship, Forums, Case Studies, and Reports.
National Packaging Covenant
Our goals are closely aligned to those of the National Packaging Covenant (NPC), and
accordingly the BRBA will position itself as a vehicle for NPC activity, including:
- Education and awareness of NPC among members and the business community
- Information, advice and support to members on NPC and related developments
- Providing practical assistance to help achieve progress against NPC Action Plans
